I didn't realize in the first place, now of course I'm fully aware of it.

How thinks IBM do Domino upgrades work in the real world? Am I supposed to say "I'm upgrading Domino from 7.0 to 8.5 this weekend but sorry, there will be no more sametime then from monday on because IBM says it's not supported anymore under 8.5. And they got me no updated Sametime fitting Domino 8.5" That's unrealistic IMHO.
